The Great Canadian Playwright Showcase is the first of its kind in North America. Hosted in the Northern Albertan County of Grande Prairie No 1, the conference brings national and international theatre professionals and enthusiasts together during four days of industry focus, networking, and great shows.
The conference program includes entertainment for visiting delegates and locals: workshops, seminars, and showcases featuring the work of emerging and established artists happen across the county in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings. Most activities open to the public are either free of charge or by donation.
TGCPS has the support of local administrations, business associations, community groups, and private enterprise. All local partners are committed to the health of our community and actively encourage growth opportunities for artists, artisans, and independent contractors.
George F. Walker, Member of the Order of Canada and recipient of the nation's highest honour in the performing arts, holds the sponsored Canadian Library Publishers Lupper Award presented to him at TGCPS '23 for his Lifetime of Achievement in Playwriting.
Our events offer targeted platforms to promote our partners.
We view all sponsorship activity as a partnership, and actively work to find the most unique and suitable way of communicating each partner’s distinctive message.
All of our events offer a range of options – including sponsorship of coveted awards, presence at targeted gatherings, and product placement – which allow highly effective marketing within existing budgets. And our focus on strategic, long-term relationships allows many creative possibilities.
